Pit Bull Awareness Day 2010

PITBULL AWARENESS DAY IS FAST APPROACHING.
THINKING ABOUT MAYBE GETTING SOME FOLKS TOGETHER THAT HAVE BEEN ATTACKED IN MY AREA, OR THE MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD PETS OR LIVESTOCK KILLED BY PITS AND SEEING IF WE CAN GET SOMETHING TOGETHER.
THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS.

NOTE TO NUTTERS: WE ARE NOT AS STUPID AS YOU THINK! THERE'S A REASON THAT PEOPLE ARE SCARED OF THESE DOGS!

AND HERE IS A CASE WHERE PITS HAVE RECENTLY ATTACKED BUT THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO PROMOTE THIS EVIL BREED, COURTESY OF LOVE-A-BULL.

  1. If they wanted to do the right thing, they wouldn't have pit bulls. This is so stupid - an awareness day about a dog we supposedly can't identify. When are they going to learn that the public is already well aware and no further amount of "educating" us is going to change anything, it never has. When are they going to round up owners and have a private session among themselves to educate owners as they believe owners are the problem? Ever think about that? They always say its the owners, yet that's the one piece of the puzzle they are not gung ho to tackle. They will fight BSL and they will fight victims, they will even bully other animal groups. But make the same effort to deal with owners and breeders, never.

  2. CD I didn't notice that before.
She seems like an educated woman. I guess it will take her going through something like what I went through to change her mind.

Funnny thing is, many a Pitbull owner I met were actually okay with the fact that their Pits were dog aggressive and would kill other dogs. That is a trait they find acceptable because they think they make up for it in other ways, like being such lovers. The thing is that they really do not believe that these dogs will turn for no reason and are very unpredictable. They actually believe what they are trying to push on the public.

  3. Hang on there just a minute--this woman being interviewed in that video seems to imply that because these owners had animal control officers out to investigate them four times, and nothing was done, that it must be a law enforcement issue. I know animal control officers who would LOVE to be able to address these issues with people and their dogs, but their hands are tied due to ineffective/no legislation Isn't she just asking for BSL?

  4. The do believe it, and they do so because it is what they have been told is the truth. And that's where pit bull rescue has failed pit bulls and their owners, they have not told them the truth about the dogs. They believe dog aggression can be managed and is not too big a deal, they are told all dogs are aggressive so there is no difference. What they should be told is that there is a HUGE difference and that sometimes management fails, that failure leading to injury or death of someone or someone's pet.
